The
people of the Knoydart Peninsula on Scotland's remote West
Coast have always had hard lives. They suffered in The Clearances
as they were removed to make way for sheep. In 1948 the
Seven Men of Knoydart made a brave land raid against the
Nazi sympathiser Lord Brockett. In the 1990s the rejuvenated
community sought to control its future by buying the land
on which it lived and worked. Living on the margins as the
people do there has created a kind of magic in their lives.
They have welcomed me and my camera and occasionally I caught
a glimpse of that magic.
